“Stephen Lighthill, ASC, was born in Massachusetts and raised in Connecticut. He studied journalism and segued into filmmaking at Boston University.”
Lighthill traveled to San Francisco with a friend intending to pick up an award for a student film. He found work on local news film and documentary crews and pretty soon, Lighthill was shooting film as freelancer for CBS News and 60 Minutes. He also helped organize a collective, which raised funds for and produced Sons and Daughters, a two-hour theatrical documentary about the anti-war movement in the San Francisco Bay area. Much of that footage became the heart and soul of Berkeley in the 60s, a theatrical documentary lensed by Lighthill that earned an Oscar nomination in 1990.
Lighthill currently is the chair of the cinematography program at American Film Institute Conservatory. He began his career shooting for San Francisco Bay area news programs, as well as national news shows such as 60 Minutes. He segued into documentary cinematography, working on many films including Gimme Shelter and Berkeley in the Sixties, which was nominated for an Academy Award® and won the Audience Award at Sundance.”
Tomas Wischerath is a brilliant up and coming composer who dabbles in filmmaking. Ignacio Maldonado (La Lombriga) – Capoeira Mission, was his filmmaking debut.
His current projects include a portal called Hungrie Ones.
